In re: Town Meeting in Montauk; FOIAs for digital tax roll data for Montauk

Dear Sirs,

Attached please find a letter addressed to the Hon. Judith S. Kaye, chief judge of the New York State Court of Appeals, and Mr. Michael Pesce, J.S.C., presiding justice of the Appellate Term, 2nd Dept., of the Supreme Court of the State of New York.  The letter informs the court that the revitalized corporation of the proprietors of Montauk will commence the process of government by town meeting and offers to appear in certain matters before them that threaten injury to the property rights of the town to its shellfish.

Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for a current digital copy of the tax rolls have been ignored by your offices.  Last year this data was available from Suffolk County on CD ROM in fixed field ASCII format.  We require this data to notice Montauk’s proprietors of the town meeting, and other matters.

By this letter I again request this data in the above format certified by your offices as current and accurate.

                                                                                    Yours,

                                                                                    Bob Ficalora

                                                                                    Acting supervisor

                                                                                    Incorporated Township of Montauk

Hon. Eliot Spitzer, Esq., Attorney General of the State of New York
